Program Assistant I

 

The Intensive English and Orientation Program in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is seeking applicants for a Program Assistant I position who will be responsible for processing financial, payroll, and hiring transactions for faculty, staff, and student employees.

The Program Assistant will follow policies, oversee the office management of the program, as well as coordinate student events and assist students with tasks, such as the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) exam, U-bill issues, and scholarships.

The successful candidate will possess excellent organization, communication, and multi-tasking skills; and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and to work collaboratively.

Assistant Professor in Speech Communication, Director of Public Speaking

 

The English Department at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for a tenure-track assistant professor to become the Director of Public Speaking. The successful candidate will participate in an across-the-curriculum communication research and pedagogy initiative (ISUComm) that combines written, oral, visual, and electronic communication. The successful candidate will join the department’s Rhetoric and Professional Communication graduate program and the Speech Communication undergraduate program, teaching the pro-seminar for speech TAs, basic and advanced public speaking courses, and undergraduate and graduate courses related to the candidate’s expertise. The proposed start date is August 16, 2017.

Assistant Professor in English Education

 

The Department of English in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University is seeking qualified candidates for an Assistant Professor in English Education with specialization in teaching the pedagogy of writing and literature. The successful applicant will supervise student teachers, as well as teach undergraduate courses in writing and literature methods and graduate courses in areas of specialization. Of particular interest are candidates whose research and teaching engage such areas as integrating technology in the classroom and developing and implementing pedagogies responsive to culturally and linguistically diverse students and/or who have experience in theories and development of literacies. This nine-month, tenure-track appointment will begin in August 2017.
