Program of Study and Committee (POSC) Form

All graduate students are to submit the appropriate forms, including the Degree Planning Sheet (DPS) approved and signed by their selected major professor, other required POS documentation, and the online POSC Form in AccessPlus by the following deadlines in the appropriate semester according to your program level outlined below:

October 2, 2017—Fall 2017
February 6, 2018—Spring 2018

  • 2nd semester of coursework for MA program graduate assistants (GAs); non-GA MA students upon completion of 9 POS credit hours
  • 4th semester of coursework for MFA program graduate assistants (GAs); non-GA MFA students upon completion of 27 POS credit hours
  • 5th semester of coursework for PhD program graduate assistants (GAs); non-GA PhD students upon completion of 36 POS credit hours


Experimental Course Proposals

Deadline for SPRING 2019 Proposed Course Offering—October 2, 2017
Deadline for FALL 2019 Proposed Course Offering—March 1, 2018

The Graduate Studies Committee reviews all proposals prior to submission to the LAS Curriculum Committee (LASCC) and the Graduate College Curriculum Committee (GCCC) for consideration.  We need this amount of lead time in order to get these through all approvals and into the Schedule of Classes for the appropriate semester.  The Experimental Course Proposal process is an electronic system called CIMX (

Graduate Assistantship Applications for 2018-19 (current student requests for new appointments, reassignments, and extensions)

(If you currently have a graduate assistantship with the English Department and have remaining semesters of eligibility according to your current Letter of Intent which ends May 15, 2018, you do not have to reapply.)

RPC Potential Comprehensive Written Examinations Questions Submission

Deadlines for examination questions to be submitted electronically to the RPC Examinations Committee chair are the first Monday of the following months (September, November, February, and April) unless the chair announces otherwise:

  • September 5, 2017 (Tuesday because Monday is a Holiday)
  • November 6, 2017
  • February 5, 2018
  • April 2, 2018
